Happy Birthday, Ashley and Jordan!!!!

Jordan decided he wanted a Star Wars storm trooper cake. It wasn't too hard and he loved it.

Ashley, on the other hand, wanted a Little Mermaid cake. this was a little harder. Don't look too hard, her face looks a little weird, I know. I think it turned out alright. She was happy with it.

They had to get a picture with mom. :)

So this year for their birthday, we gave them a choice again. We said they could have a little party, or they could invite one friend to go to dinner and an activity of some sort. They both chose going out with friends.

Ashley decided she wanted to bring her friend, Aulina, who is in her class at school. She was a lot of fun. They were really funny together. They both talk a ton.

This is them a Red Robin. They pretty much sat and giggled the whole time.

Jordan brought his friend, Josh, who is actually a year older than him. They get along great and are a lot alike. Both really good boys.

So we figured out that Jordan has had a crush on Aulina, and Ashley has a crush on Josh (it's obvious). So we think they planned this carefully. Last year they wanted to go out with their friends by themselves, and this year, for some reason, they decided to go together. Smart kids think they can pull one over on us. I am having flashes to five years from now. No mom, this isn't a double date, Jordan and I just want to go together. :)

So the choice of activity was bowling. My kids had never been, and have been dying to try it. Ashley just LOVED bowling. She was so excited every time it was her turn. She did pretty good. She had to learn how to roll the ball, and not drop it. Two times, she let go of the ball at the wrong time, and it came rolling backwards at us. It was pretty funny. Nathan and I spent the whole time just laughing at them.

Jordan was hilarious. He wanted to do so good, and he was trying so hard. He would run up all goofy and swing his ball out. He was so funny. He ended up doing the best of all four of them, so he was pretty proud.

So here are the scores. You can't see Aulina's, but she got a 88. They did pretty good.....for bumper bowling.

The group! (sorry blurry)

Cody got to stay with grandma and grandpa. He loves staying with them, and of course they always make it fun for him. They ended up making a fire in their fire pit in the backyard for him. He loved it. Thanks to grandma and grandpa for taking care of Cody while we have our own fun!

Dan and Emily's wedding......

So since I forgot to bring my camera to Danny's wedding, (Nathan's brother), I had to wait to get some pictures of it. I just got some yesterday and thought you might want to see a few. It was in Oregon.

This is Nathan walking down with one of Emily's bridesmaids. Isn't he cute?

This is Nathan with three of his brothers. Two are missing. Danny, who was the groom, and Bret who is the oldest, and is just not in the picture. I thought this was a fun picture. They all look so much alike.

So here is the bride and groom, Dan and Emily. Don't they look so cute. She is actually even cuter in person, if you can believe that. The wedding was beautiful.

My kids and I at the wedding. Nathan was in the wedding party, so didn't get to be in the picture with us.
Anyway, we had fun. The wedding was gorgeous. We love our new sister-in-law, Emily.

First soccer game of Fall.....

So Ashley and Jordan had their first soccer games of this season last weekend. They were so excited. We "played them up" a league, so they are playing with kids a year older, but we wanted them to be a little more challenged this time. I think it's working too, they really are learning a lot this time. They now have ref's and goalie's and a lot more rules that they are learning.

They let Ashley be the team captain, so she was pretty excited. She got to do the first kick off.

Then she had to play goalie. They all rotate and take turns. This was all new for her. She really had to get use to the goalie box that she could move around in. We are trying to teach her about being more aggressive and going and grabbing the ball when it comes near her. She is doing pretty good. Ok.....so she doesn't look to excited here. I think she would rather be out kicking the ball.

The ref's were really good about trying to explain things that she didn't understand.

So we decided we are not letting Jordan wear these shorts with pockets anymore. He kept standing there with his hands in his pockets, waiting for the ball. It was driving us, and the coach and ref, crazy. It was pretty funny, he would be fine while kicking the ball, and as soon as he was done, the hands went in the pocket. Crazy kid.

He's getting more aggressive, which we love. He is fun to watch.

Canning with the family.....

So a friend of mine went out to Caldwell to get some peaches from an orchard out there. I had her pick some up for me to can. I had the family help me (minus Cody). We did it while he napped. (Just easier that way) So I peeled the peaches, Nathan sliced them and put them in jars, Jordan poured the syrup mixture over them and gave them to Ashley to put lids on. (Actually this picture, they had already switched jobs) It worked out pretty good.

Jordan was so funny. He would pour the stuff in, the say "hello, delivery". It was really funny. Nathan and I were standing at the sink just busting up. These two talked the whole time, and are just so fun with eachother. I am so glad they get a long so well.

Ashley wanted to do everything. She is such a good helper.

We decided since we were already going to can peaches, to also make some salsa to can. So we let Ashley and Jordan use knives to cut up the tomatoes. I was a little nervous cause these are sharp knives, but I figure I have to let them try things as they get bigger. I have to relax a little bit....I know. They did great, and LOVED using the knives. I think it made them feel so big.

The finished product. Aren't they pretty!
